Tune in every Wednesday for three hours of the finest Jazz, Soul, Brazilian and Classical Music, selected by one of Melbourne’s most accomplished vocalists, Rita Satch. An avid listener of GDR since she was in high school, Satch’s program caters to the heart of what GDR is all about – timeless music. Expect to also hear new artists from here and abroad, as well as exclusive access to recordings from many of Satch’s collaborators and colleagues. The first half of the show brings listeners back to Classic Jazz recordings from artists such as, Nat King Cole, Art Tatum and Ella Fitzgerald. The second half of the show focuses on the Soul and RnB genres. At 2:30pm Rita does a weather forecast, and at 3:30pm – another edition of Bing Crosby & Friends.
How did you first connect with GDR?
My very first experience with GDR was when I was about 13 or 14, I was up late one night listening to the radio and Julie London’s version of Round Midnight came on… I was completely mesmerised as I had never heard that version. I have been listening to GDR ever since!
Why did you want to be a presenter?
I’ve been a long-time admirer of the station and what it stands for. I wanted to be a part of it and bring a youthful presence to the station.
What experience do you want to give your listeners?
I want to bring enjoyment to my listeners, I want them to feel happy and reminiscent of the times passed. Music is very powerful and can help bring back some of those special moments that may have been forgotten… I want my music to evoke happiness, love and to bring some light in people’s lives.
